  • How do I apply for a position with Development and Alumni Relations (DEVAR)?
  • Complete your application and upload your resume/cover letter online in the UC Davis application portal. In the portal you can search for a role by its Job ID or title. After reviewing the position details, scroll down the job announcement and select the Apply button.
  • Does UC Davis offer application support for prospective employees?
  • Please visit Applicant Accounts and Support for tips and step-by-step guides. We also invite you to request a 30-minute career chat with an HR Coordinator to receive application and interview tips, information about employees resource groups and benefits, and gain insight into UC Davis’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • I was referred to apply for a position in DEVAR. How do I give credit to that person?
  • Make sure to include the individual’s first and last name on your application in the field titled “How did you hear about this job?
  • Do I need to complete all the fields on the online employment application?
  • We ask that you complete all fields to the best of your ability so that the sourcing specialist can fully review your work history and qualifications before sharing your resume with the hiring manager.
  • I am experiencing technical difficulties in the application portal. Who can I contact?
  • If you are experiencing technical issues with the application portal, contact hr@ucdavis.edu for assistance. Please note: our systems do not support hotmail.com or aol.com email addresses, as well as ".net" email addresses (pacbell.net, sbcglobal.net, prodigy.net, comcast.net, att.net). Please create an account with an alternate email.
  • If I apply for a position will I automatically be considered for other similar vacancies?
  • You will need to submit a separate application for every position you would like to be considered.
  • I applied for a job with DEVAR. What happens next?
  • A sourcing specialist will review your resume for minimum and preferred qualifications. Most qualified candidates will go to a recruiter for screening, and the hiring manager will narrow down who they would like to bring forward to an interview.

    Applicants selected to move forward in the process will hear back within 1-2 weeks after the initial review date or application closing date.

  • What does the interview process look like?
  • Most interviews consist of two rounds. First round interviews are 45 minutes - 1 hour with a virtual panel. Candidates invited to a second-round interview will meet with the hiring manager and key partners on our campus. Second round interviews vary in length from a few hours to a full-day agenda. Depending on the role, the candidate may or may not meet with senior leadership in their interview process.
  • If a job was posted a few months ago and remains on the website, is it still open?
  • Some positions take longer to fill than others, especially those with unique minimum and preferred qualifications. If a job posting is still on the website, the position is still accepting applications.
  • How is salary determined?
  • The Human Resources compensation team oversees wage and salary programs at UC Davis. Salary ranges are based on a number of factors including career tracks and level of position. Most often, a specific budgeted salary range will be noted on the job announcement. If the announcement advertises a significantly wide range, the actual starting salary will be discussed prior to starting the interview process.
  • Does DEVAR offer hybrid work options?
  • Most often, yes. We recognize and support quality work performed at a home office and strive to foster an interactive and collaborative in-person environment. Hybrid schedules vary across positions, based largely on the team schedule or nature of the specific role. If a position offers hybrid work opportunities, this will be noted on the job announcement.

  • What is the DEVAR culture like?
